I have recently been exploring what it means to experience the world through the lens of my synesthesia. I have become more in tune with my unique perception, seeing energies swirling in colors, some foggy, some opaque, some figures and others hovering as shapeless smoke. In the past, I would ignore this. But I am learning that my synesthesia contains useful information. Through painting, I hope to explore another layer of this experience and cultivate a visual language through which I can share what I see.
I am currently learning the very basics of painting, trying out different styles and techniques, exploring the medium and how my ideas translate to canvas. I paint with acrylics, sometimes watering them down as if they are watercolors. The topics of my paintings are usually still life or figure. In the future, I intend to play with the blending of objects and figures into unusual ensembles, constructing abstracted images from real life subjects in a realistic style.
