My work explores the layers of community and neighborhood redevelopment through the lenses of history, architecture, movement, and body. Particularly, I investigate the negotiation of individual’s within larger community and institutional frameworks through the use of self portraiture and community based projects. My work is multi-media, primarily video and photography along with painting, installation, and works on paper. Most recently I have been exploring the issues of exhaustion and rest in the context of doing community and justice based work, and looking at the practice of art and the production of beauty as both complicated and problematic, but also vital spaces of respite and restoration.
