Courtesy the artist. Through a dedicated, transdisciplinary practice, I am able to physically construct and unify my impressions, emotions, and sensations.
My work examines the sociological and psychological effect of memories. I carve out shapes, push back darkness, and piece together an imagined infrastructure. I pair gestural forms and sensitive contours with manipulations of light, shadow, and texture, thereby stimulating a deeper understanding of particular moments in time. What is seen and what is felt.
Currently, I am working collaboratively on installation projects that utilize both visual and performance art in the pursuit of women’s rights and the spiritual practice of creating from shared female memory. The artists in collaboration are dedicated to honest examination and exploration of techniques, media, and content, where the product and the process are equally significant.
Discovering the variation of perceptions others bring to my work is revealing, even thrilling, and ultimately critical in the effort to understand one another. I strive to approach art as a method for improving conditions of community, and consider the utilization of transdisciplinary ideas in that attempt to be one of the best ways to spend time and creative energy.
